MLB TEASER
In this project, I had the opportunity to work on an MLB TV spot, blending elements of 2D, 3D, and collage. It was my first experience with sports graphics, and I’m really pleased with the final outcome!
During the 2024 MLB season, two iconic teams, the Yankees and the Dodgers, will clash in a much-anticipated game on Saturday, June 9th. As perennial powerhouses and focal points of the league, their rivalry promises to captivate audiences. To build excitement for this legendary showdown, I create an exciting TV spot for the upcoming match of two sports rivals, and a reminder to watch it on the sports network.
RESEARCH
AUDIENCE
Young Adults, aged 18-35. The audience is 70% Male. The primary professions are business, finance, engineering, and technology.
SLOGAN
2024 MLB: Make it major.
STYLE
The art style driving our choice of TV spot is all about fun, excitement, energy, and an easy-going vibe. To capture this essence, I opted for light, bright materials, playful elements like highlighter marks, and charming crinkle paper. Complementing these choices are camera movements that are not just dynamic but downright fun, adding an extra layer of excitement to the entire experience.
INSPIRATION
To appeal to younger audiences, I used a doodles and collage style. Since both teams share blue as their primary color, I blended the two colors to create a unified blue theme. To bring more vibrancy to the overall palette, I introduced mint blue and blue-purple, complemented by mustard yellow as an accent color. Doodle animations and dynamic typography were employed to heighten the sense of conflict between the two teams.
DEVELOPMENT
Part 1: Set the Stage for 2024 MLB
Begin with a fast-paced scene of a baseball crashing through paper, symbolizing the start of the new season.
Part 2: Highlight the Yankees and Dodgers
Transition to focusing on the two iconic teams—Yankees and Dodgers. Showcase their legendary status through impactful visuals of their star players in action, blending highlights from both teams to emphasize their prominence.
Part3: Build the Anticipation for the Game
Use kinetic typography to show how competitive the teams will be. The names of both teams—Yankees and Dodgers—appear on screen in the triangle flags. These flags push against each other, symbolizing the fierce competition between the two teams.
Part4: Announce the Game Time
Conclude with a bold and impactful display of the game’s date and time.
